With exciting, engaging, and educational exhibits, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum celebrates and preserves the history behind the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500. Open 363 days a year, it's May every day at the Museum.

The IMS Museum is located inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you choose to visit during events (e.g. Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, etc.) a race ticket is required to enter the track. Race tickets do not include Museum admission. Museum admission must be purchased separately.

Museum admission is required to take a track tour.

2026 IMS Event Schedule Admission Information

Entrance into the grounds is free of charge on non-event days. However, during events Indianapolis Motor Speedway charges an admission fee or requires a ticket to get onto the grounds. This general admission fee or ticket price does not include museum admission.

Golf Cart Tours

Reserve a 90-minute Golf Cart Tour, which takes you behind-the-scenes to the Pagoda, Gasoline Alley, Victory Podium, and more. On days the track is available, the tour also includes a lap around the Speedway with a stop at the famous "Yard of Bricks". The Golf Cart Tour is the Museum's most in-depth tour and features one-on-one conversation with only the most knowledgeable tour guides. Guests must be age 12 or older and accompanied by an adult. Location & Directions

The Museum is located at 4750 W. 16th Street, Speedway, IN, 46224, inside the track between turns 1 and 2. The entrance to the Museum is located at Gate 2 on the north side of 16th Street. This is marked by a black banner on the west side of the entrance.

Parking

Parking is available at the Museum and is free of charge during days that the track is not in use for a race or other public event. During races and certain other events, Museum guests may need to park outside of the track and walk in.

During on-track days this May, visitors should park in open IMS parking lots and use the Pagoda Plaza shuttles to access the Museum.

Accessibility

The Museum strives to make its buildings, programs, and services accessible to all visitors. Features include:

  • Accessible parking and ramps to facilitate entry into the building
  • A limited number of wheelchairs available for guest use
  • Wheelchair-accessible racing simulator
  • Wheelchair-accessible tour buses
  • Subtitles on the Starting Line Experience video and tour bus narration
  • Wellness Room for anyone who needs a quiet space, from nursing mothers to those with sensory sensitivities. (Available on a first-come, first-serve basis.)

The Museum also partnered with Kulture City to become Sensory Inclusive™. Sensory bags can be checked out at the Welcome Center and include soundproof headphones, fidget toys, and glasses to reduce light. Signage around the building indicates “headphone areas” for those with sensitivities to noise.
