Overview

Mission

The mission of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway College Program is to create an environment that invites all college students to participate in valuable work experience and intentional, developmental programming at Penske Entertainment. The College Program provides opportunities to take part in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing by getting involved in an Internship or in an Event Staff role. Both avenues grant access to the College Program's various career development and networking opportunities.

College Program Internships

College Program Internships provide a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work experience in various career paths within IMS, INDYCAR, and IMS Productions. College Program Internships generally run from January to August with variations based on the department requirements (specific timelines available within each job description). Our internships provide students with a robust opportunity to put into practice the skills they have learned while in school.

To qualify, you must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate or undergraduate program. Racially and/or Ethnically diverse students may also express interest in our Diversity Leadership in Motorsports Program (DLMP) within the internship application. Interviews for DLMP will be conducted following acceptance into the internship program.

College Program Event Staff

College Program Event Staff roles are the starting point to get your foot in the door for opportunities at Penske Entertainment. Event Staff positions give students of any major insight into the inner workings of large-scale events through hands-on work experience. Students work in a variety of operational and premium services event roles designed to enhance the experience of thousands of venue guests. In this event execution role, students are placed on a team and will be an on-the-ground representative of their department. Available work for the Event Staff position is focused on dates throughout the peak event season (April/May) with opportunities to work other events during the summer and fall. To qualify, you may be a rising freshman through recent graduate

Programming Overview

During your time in the College Program, you will be invited to various programming opportunities. These opportunities are a chance for you to meet other College Programmers and Penske Entertainment professionals in various settings meant to help your professional growth. The 2023 programming calendar is still being finalized, but opportunities could include: interaction with Penske Entertainment leadership, exclusive events at the famous IMS Pagoda, virtual leadership seminars with executives, and learning sessions on how to network, nail an interview, and succeed in the events world. These opportunities plus others are just a small part of what we hope is an exceptional experience for you during your time in the College Program.
